Wanna switch from iOS to Android? Here is how

Apple iPhone ranks among the best smartphones you can buy now on the market. The Cupertino company has been working very hard to improve its mobile operating system every year. Starting with iOS 10, Apple finally opened some aspects of iOS to third-party developers, allowing iPhone and iPad owners to do a lot more things.

However, there are reasons to still switch to Android, ranging from more customization options to better Google’s native apps. No matter your reasons, switching sides is not an easy task, as you need to make sure that all of your data securely makes the switch with you.

This article walks you through the necessary steps to switch from iOS to Android. Before we begin, make sure you now have a modern version of Android operating system on your phone.

How to switch from iOS to Android

  1. Google Drive

If you are planning to switch from iOS to Android, you need to make sure all of your important data, including calendar, contacts, and photos are safe and sound. That’s when Google Drive comes to the rescue.

Google Drive is one of the most used storage services on the market, allowing you to store almost everything in the cloud. Head to the App Store on your iPhone and download Google Drive app. Once you are done, open the app and sign in with your Google account. When you are in, upload your contacts, calendar and photos to Google Drive and then sign into your account on your Android device.

  1. Install apps

There is no direct way to move apps across multiple platforms and there are no exceptions here. However, you can find the best alternatives to your iPhone apps. The coolest thing is that most of them are free.  All you need to do is to head to the Google Play Store and find the alternatives.

Some apps like Facebook, Instagram or YouTube have been available for Android for years. However, some games and apps are exclusive to iPhone and iPad like Bear, Enlight, Blackbox, or Affinity Photo.

  1. Music

If you store tons of music tracks in iTunes, transferring your songs from iTunes is not always straightforward. However, there is always something you can do. There is a third-party app called doubleTwist, allowing you to transfer your music, videos and playlists from iTunes to Android phone.

Step one: Head over to this link to download doubleTwist app on your computer

Step two: Connect your Android phone to computer (make sure you have enabled USB Mass Storage on your Android device)

Step three: Your phone will show up in the app. From the syncing window, select your music files you wish to move to Android.
