Vodafone set to join the home broadband business

Vodafone, one of the biggest brands in the world is set to join the home broadband business.

The mobile phone firm is launching its fixed line broadband and is set to head to head with already established business’ like BT (British Telecom).

It will offer speeds of up to 76 megabits per second.

The prices for this service will range from £5 to £25 a month.

Essex, Hertfordshire and Yorkshire seem to be the first areas to gain the service (within the next few weeks) but a national roll out is planned for the summer.

Existing Vodafone customers will get a discounted rate for one year.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think more competition for this market will be good? Do you think more mobile phone providers will follow suit?
