Tips to speed up Windows 10

  1. Make sure that you have enabled Game mode

The Windows 10 Creators Update introduces Game mode, a brand new feature that is specifically designed to boost your gaming performance. Basically, once enabled, Game mode will reduce background processes to prevent other programs from eating up system resources, thus offering the best gaming performance.

However, Game mode is a bigger deal than you think. Enabling Game mode will increase Windows 10 performance, as it reduces resource-intensive programs on your computer. To enable Game mode in the Windows 10 Creators Update, open Settings, click Gaming > Game mode and turn on the switch for Use Game mode.

  1. Disable visual effects

Visual effects and transition animations can spice up Windows 10, but they also can slow down your computer. So, it’s a good idea to turn off visual effects to boost Windows 10 performance. To do this, open System, choose Advanced System Settings and select Advanced. After that, navigate to the Performance section, select Settings and check the box next to Adjust for best performance.

  1. Disable startup programs

There are a lot of startup programs running silently in the background. This may decrease Windows 10 performance. Therefore, disabling non-essential startup programs gives a significant performance boost.

To do this, right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager. From the Task Manager window, select Startup tab and disable all startup programs to increase performance.

  1. Use CCleaner

CCleaner is undoubtedly the best tool for cleaning and speeding up Windows. Basically, CCleaner removes potentially unwanted files, browsing history, cookies, log files, application date and much more. However, keep in mind that CCleaner will delete all of your login info and passwords on your device, meaning that you need to re-enter all of them.
