Steps to set up your new Nintendo Switch

74Nintendo Switch has been on everyone’s lips since it was officially released last week. Considered by Nintendo as a hybrid console, the Switch can be used as a home console with the ability to connect to a television thanks to the help of a docking station, and a tablet computer thanks to its 1280 x 720p LCD touchscreen.

If you have just bought a shiny Nintendo Switch, you need to set up your machine before you can start playing your favorite video games. The process is not complicated, but it may be a little bit confusing.

In this step-by-step guide, we will run you through the steps to set up your Nintendo Switch, so you can start playing your video games.

Steps to set up your new Nintendo Switch

Step 1: First and foremost, you need to press the Home button located on the top-left corner of the screen to turn the device on

Step 2: Next up, you need to select your preferred language and choose the region you live to proceed

Step 3: You are now supposed to check the box next to the Accept option under the End-User License Agreement and tap Next

Step 4: Once you are done, choose your wireless network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi network. After that, you need to select OK button or press the + button on your Joy-Con wireless controllers

Step 5: Select OK once your Nintendo Switch has successfully connected to your network and choose your time zone to proceed

Step 6: You can select Connect to TV and detach your Joy-Con wireless controllers from the either side of the machine. This can be done by holding the release button on the back of the machine and sliding the controller upwards

Step 7: Once you are done, you simply need to select Next. After that, you need to set up your Dock and select Next

Step 8: You now need to connect the Dock to your TV and power source. After that, place your new Nintendo Switch into the Dock and select Success once your Switch has successfully connected to your TV

Step 9: Once the setup is finished, you are now supposed to select Next to create a New User. Select your icon for your User to proceed

Step 10: You now need to enter a nickname for the user and select OK

Step 11: Select Skip. Remember that you can set up more users by selecting Add Another User

Step 12: You can skip the next step (Parental controls). Once you are done, you need to press the Home button on your controller to complete the task. Your Nintendo Switch is now ready for your gaming sessions.
