With Windows 10, Microsoft is trying to make everything much simpler by polishing up a few apps. The Windows 10 Settings menu has got one such polishing. The Settings app in Windows 10 offers everything you need to control your computer ranging from notifications to security and update.

While the Windows 10 Settings menu is now more user-friendly, one major drawback is that anyone can access the Settings app in Windows 10 and alter the current settings on your computer. Fortunately, Windows 10 allows you to prevent others from accessing the Settings app and the Control Panel. This makes sure that your configurations will be preserved every time you share your computer with other people.

In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to disable access to the Settings app and Control Panel in Windows 10.

Step one: First off, you need to open the Run command in Windows 10. To do this, you simply need to use the Windows key + R. After that, type gpedit.msc and hit OK to proceed

Step two: Next up, from the Local Group Policy Editor, navigate to User Configuration, click Administrative Templates and then hit Control Panel to reveal more options

Step three: Once you are done, you simply need to perform a double-click on the Prohibit access to Control Panel and PC settings on the right and check the box next to Enabled

Step four: Click Apply and then hit OK to complete the task

Step one: Open the Run command on your computer and then type regedit

Step two: From the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software> Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Policies > Explorer

Step three: Once you are in, right click anywhere on the right side and select New. After that, select  DWORD (32-bit) Value from the drop-down menu

Step four: Next up, name the key NoControlPanel and hit Enter. After that, you need to double click the NoControlPanel and change the value to 1 under the Value data section.

Step five: Hit OK to complete the task.
