However, big screen of the phone seems to be somewhat a bad idea for one-handed operation, so make sure that you have a deep pocket or a bag to carry the phone in. The good news is that the Note 7’s massive screen is protected by the latest generation Gorilla Glass 5, which is specifically designed to withstand drops from 1.6 meters.

Software and new features

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 marks the first Samsung phone to use Iris scanner, a new security feature. Basically, iris scanner on the Note 7 allows you to unlock your phone with just a glance thanks to a dedicated hardware mounted next to the phone’s front-facing camera.

However, it comes with some restrictions. One of such restriction is that you cannot use iris scanner with glasses or from any distance, which is a little bit disappointing.

With the new Galaxy Note 7, Samsung’s user interface, TouchWiz has been redesigned, as it is now cleaner and simpler with icon shapes and themes. You can even change the look of the Note’s UI using the Themes app.

S-Pen is one of the most famous things that characterize the Note series. With the Note 7, the S-Pen has evolved into a useful tool for users. You now can create a GIF animation using S Pen on the Note screen. The new S Pen also allows you to translate foreign languages by hovering over each word. This feature could be very useful when you travel abroad, but the bad thing is that it translates just one word at a time and you need to hover each and every word, which is a little exhausting.

Performance and battery life

The new Galaxy Note 7 features an AMOLED display which sports an incredibly high resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Under the hood, the new handset is powered the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, clocked at 2.1 GHz. The chip is paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM.

The new device offers an excellent performance, as most apps and games run smoothly. The Note 7 comes equipped with 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card for further expansion.

Basically, the front-facing shooter works pretty well for selfies thanks to built-in beauty modes. The camera launches very quickly with a simple double tap, allowing you to capture every beautiful.
