Just got the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update? Here is how to free up some space

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has been available for a while following six months of beta testing. On the surface, the Fall Creators Update is not a significant update, but when we look inside, there are a number of new features and changes like a redesigned Paint app, support for mixed reality, and Video Remix in the Photos app.

Installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is pretty simple, but the update comes with same old problem. A lot of users have reported that they are running low on space after installing the Fall update. If you have been hit by the issue, don’t panic because we are here to help.

How to free up space after getting the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Before we begin, note that when you install a Windows update, the old version of Windows known as Windows.old remains where it is and takes a considerable amount of your storage. Therefore, it’s a good idea to remove the Windows.old folder to free up some storage space.

Storage sense is a new feature in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Once enabled, the feature will automatically remove files that have been in the recycle bin for more than 30 days. In this case, you can use the feature to delete the Windows 10.old folder to get some space.

Step one: First off, open Settings and then click on System

Step two: Next up, click on Storage and then hit Change how we free up space under Storage sense section

Step three: Now just simply check the Delete previous versions of Windows option at the bottom of the page and then hit the Clean now button to complete the task.

Step one: Open Settings and then hit System. After that, click on Storage and hit This PC under Local Storage

Step two: Next up, click on Temporary Files and then check the box next to the Previous version of Windows option

Step three: Now just simply hit the Remove files button.

Step one: Launch File Explorer and click on This PC

Step two: Right-click the Local Disk (C: ) and select Properties. After that, hit the Disk Cleanup button and then select the Clean up system files

Step three: Check the box next to the Previous Windows installation (s) option and hit OK to complete the task.
