How to Import Photos from iPhone to Windows computers

Because of the popularity of the cloud storage, many users have uploaded their favorite photos to the cloud for storage purposes. Although the cloud storage is great and convenient, you should also save a local backup of all your photos.

If you want to manage your photo library, you should manually transfer photos from your iPhone to your Windows PC and then sort your photos. If you are using Mac, importing photos from your iPhone is very simple as iTunes automatically takes care of that. It’s made easier that iTunes is pre-installed on a Mac.

But, for Windows computers, things are different as you need to manually download and install iTunes on your Windows computer. Interestingly, it’s easier to import photos from an iOS device in Windows 10 by supporting devices in Photos app.

How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to Windows 

Step 1: When you connect your iPhone/iPad to your Windows computer, you will see a prompt for authorizing the computer to import your photos and videos. After tapping on Trust, you will need to enter your phone’s passcode to get verification.

Step 2: Next, launch a new Explorer window and then choose This PC from the sidebar. You will then see your iOS device under the Devices section. When you tap on the device name, it will now show you the internal storage with the free storage left on your phone. Now, double-click on Internal Storage and then DCIM -> 100Apple. In this folder, you will see all the photos, screenshots, and videos are stored on your iPhone/iPad.

From there, you can manually copy all your photos and videos to your Windows computer.

How to Import Photos From iPhone to Windows PC

If you don’t like manually transferring photos from your iPhone/iPad to your Windows computer, you can then import the photos. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Launch the Photos app on your computer after connecting your iOS device to it. Make sure to you follow step 1 above to properly plug your iPhone/iPad into your computer.

Step 2: At the top-right corner, tap on Import From a USB device. There will be a list of USB devices connected to your computer displaying on the screen. From here, simply choose your iPhone/iPad.

Step 3: The Photos app will then scan through all your images and videos on your device. Now, simply choose the photos you want to import and click on the Import Selected option.

You should remember that you can use iTunes on your Windows computer for syncing all photos on your iPhone while making a backup of your iPhone/iPad. But you will need to download and install iTunes software on your computer. The iTunes app is now available on Windows Store, so installing it is now much easier.

You can use the native Windows explorer feature or Photos app to import photos from your iPhone/iPad into your Windows 10, which makes a lot of sense in case you plug your device to other Windows computers for quickly importing photos and videos.
