How to create a six-digit passcode on your iPhone/iPad

In iOS 9, Apple added a new way to enhance the security on your iOS devices. From now on, you can create a six – digit password on your iPhone or iPad instead of using a four-digit password to unlock the device. The extra two numbers will make it harder to hack into your iOS devices.

Normally, if you first update to iOS 9, you will not be forced to use a six-digit security code. That means you will have to activate it. If you want to enhance the security on your device, here is how to do it.

How to set a 6-digit password on your iPhone/iPad

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and select Touch ID & Passcode.
  • Enter your current Pin code.
  • Select Change Passcode.
  • Enter your current Pin code again.
  • Enter a new six-digit code (twice).

Note: you will see a link titled Passcode Options just above the number pad when you are typing your new passcode. If you tap on this, you will be able to create an alphanumeric code or custom numeric code. Besides, you will be able to switch between 4/6 Digit passcode on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 9.
