Here is how you can restore older versions of a document on your Mac

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have to click on “Undo Typing” or “Undo Edit” a hundred times to get back what you delete in a document? If you have, believe me that you are not the only one. In reality, MacOS allows you to restore what you get rid of using a restoration feature.

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to restore older versions of a document within the app.

  1. Steps to restore an older version of a file on your Mac

Before we begin, note that make sure that the program you are working with includes the Revert To feature.

Step one: Open the document on your Mac and click on File in the app menu

Step two: Once you are done, you need to select Revert To from the drop-down menu and then select Browse All Versions

Step three: You will be presented with two options to either go back through the versions one at a time (Arrow button)  or select a version you saved at a specified time (Timeline ticker)

Step four: Choose your own option and click Restore

MacOS allows you to restore a copy of an older version of a document. This is pretty useful if you want to make comparisons with the current version of the document you are working on.

Step one: Select your document and head to the app menu. After that, click on File and select Revert to from the drop-down menu

Step two: Next up, you are supposed to select Browse All Versions to proceed

Step three: Once you are done, click the Arrow if you want to browse through the versions at the same time, or click Timeline ticker if you want to select a version you saved at a specified time

Step four: When you are done, all you need to do is to hold down the Option key and click Restore a copy to complete the task
