Here is how you can remove the Power button from the Windows 10’s Sign-in screen

With Windows 10, Microsoft brings back fan-favorite Start Menu, also introducing tons of cool new features including Windows App Store, Cortana, Microsoft Edge and more.

Aside from the above-mentioned features, Windows 10 provides users with multiple ways to access and change settings. For example, on Windows 10, the Power options can be accessed in several ways, making it much easier for users to Shut down or sign out. However, at times this may come with some annoyances, as it show up in the Sign-in screen.

In this tutorial, we will run you through the steps to remove the Power button from the Sign-in screen on Windows 10.

Note that the below-mentioned guide aims to edit the registry on your Windows 10, which may put you at risks of data loss. So, we strongly recommend that you create a full backup of your computer before moving ahead.

Step one: First off, you need to use the keyboard shortcut Windows +  R to bring up the Run command on your computer

Step two: Once you are done, type in the input field regedit and click Ok to open the Registry

Step three: Next up, all you have to do is to browse the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Step four: Once you have entered the Registry Editor, all you need to do is to double-click the shutdownwithoutlogon DWORD to access the Edit DWORD window

Step five: Once you are done, head to the Value data section and change the value to 0 and click OK

Note that if the DWORD doesn’t show up on your Windows 10, this means that you need to create it. Here is how you can do it:

  • Head to the System folder, right –click on it and select New. Once you are done, you are now supposed to click DWORD (32-bit) Value
  • Once you are done, name the key shutdownwithoutlogon and hit the Enter button
  • Perform a double-click on shutdownwithoutlogon and set its value to 0

Step six: Next up, you need to close the Registry and restart your computer

Once you are done, the Power button will be removed from the Sign-up screen while you enter the startup screen or locks screen. Doing this way minimizes the chances of data loss when someone accidentally shuts down your computer.
