Halifax & Lloyds now support Apple Pay in the UK

Apple Pay had a difficult start in the UK with some major banks not supporting the service. This seems to be changing as some Halifax and Lloyds customers are reporting that they were able to link their accounts and make payments with Apple Pay.

It looks like both banks are doing a gradual roll-out and most of their customer will be able to use Apple Pay very soon. That brings the grand total up to 11 banks in the UK: American Express, First Direct, HSBC, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, NationWide, MBNA, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster. Barclays stated that is currently trying to implement the service and will give us more details in due course.
