Solutions To Fix Android File Transfer Not Working On Mac

Transferring files between computer and Android device is something that you do at least once. However, if it does not work due to different technical difficulties, it can easily get frustrated.

What to Do If Android File Transfer Does Not Work On Mac?

Have you ever attempted to connect your Android device to your Mac? However, the Android File Transfer didn’t work. Do not worry, this post will help you out with different solutions to solve this problem. Before proceeding, make sure the latest Android File Transfer app is already installed on your Mac.

  1. Activate File Transfer Option on Android Device

You first need to enable file transfer on your Android device. To do so, head to Settings -> Storage and tap on the three dots in the top right corner to access additional settings. Next, go to the ‘USB computer connection’ and check ‘Media Device (MTP)’ box. Now, try reconnecting with your computer and check if the problem is already fixed.

However, it’s also necessary to take more steps. If you don’t see the mentioned options in the Storage and USB settings, follow these steps below:

  • Disconnect the USB cable from your device.
  • Toggle on Developer Options from Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build Number 7 times until you see a popup.
  • Navigate to Settings -> Developer Options and enable USB debugging.
  • Connect your device to the computer through the USB cable
  • Unlock your Android device and swipe down to notifications and choose ‘USB for charging’.
  • Select File Transfers from the popup on the screen
  • Lock and unlock your Android device once again.

It will allow your phone’s security to transfer file. Some things can cause them to be blocked.

  1. Uninstall Kies App from Mac

Kies software sometimes interferes with the Android file transfer software. The only way to fix the issue is uninstalling Kies itself. To do so, you need to download the installer before selecting the ‘uninstall’ option from the file package.

  1. Use Smart Switch for Mac

If you are using a Samsung Galaxy device and want to transfer files on your Mac, then you can use Smart Switch for your Mac. All you need is to install the app on your Mac and then connect your Galaxy device to your Mac. Once done, open the Smart Switch app to transfer files to your Mac.

  1. Use An Alternative App to Transfer Files

There are still a number of apps currently available that allow users to transfer files from your Android device to Mac wirelessly. You can choose the common apps like AirDroid, Shareit, Handshaker to transfer files wirelessly without using a cable.

Hopefully, your problems can be fixed by following one of the above methods.
