How to Fix AirPods Not Connecting with Your Mac

Normally, AirPods works flawlessly with iOS devices. It’s designed primarily to work with iPhone/iPad and other Apple devices like MacBooks. Since it’s not easy to connect or disconnect AirPods with Mac like it with iPhone, the process is seamless. AirPods will often refuse to speak to Mac. If you are in this trouble, here is how to fix AirPods not connecting to Mac.

Connect Your AirPod Using Bluetooth Section

If your AirPods are using your iCloud account, they’ll automatically show up in Bluetooth section. On your Mac, just click on Bluetooth option from the menu bar, choose AirPods and click Connect button.

After doing this, ensure your AirPods are charged up fully and the case is already open. After a few seconds, your AirPods should automatically connect to your Mac and you can their battery percentage left. To disconnect, simply click on Disconnect button.

Steps to Fix AirPods Not Connecting to Mac

If you have previously paired your AirPods with your Mac, but they suddenly refuse to connect, you need to unpair and pair them again. Since AirPods work as Bluetooth headphones, it’s similar to resetting them. To do so:

Step 1: On your Mac, head to System Preferences and click on Bluetooth.

Step 2: Your AirPods will appear in the list if they’re already paired once. Simply right-click and choose Remove. In the next pop up, click on Forget Device.

Step 3: Your AirPods will then be disconnected from your Mac. Next, open the AirPods case and then press & hold the Round setup button at the back of the AirPods case. Your AirPods will show up in the list of available devices. Just click on Connect button to start the pairing process.

Wait for a few seconds, they’ll be connected together and you’ll then see them in Bluetooth section from the menu bar as well.

You can manually reset your AirPods without the help of your Mac. All you need is to press firmly the Round button at the back for 10 seconds or until there is a white flashing light. From now, when you connect it to the Mac, you need to go through the pairing process again. Once done, the problem with AirPods not connecting to your Mac will be fixed.

If your AirPods are connected but you don’t hear any sound, you should check if they’re chosen as output or not. Simply click on the Volume icon from the menu bar and choose your AirPods. You can also head to the Sound section in System Preferences and choose your AirPods as an output.

If you have tried all of the above methods, but AirPods are still not connecting, try to connect them your iPhone and check if they’re working well. If the issue does not come from your AirPods, there is a chance it’s your Mac’s problem.
