Find out if your phone is vulnerable to the Stagefright bug

Zimperium, is the company that discovered the flaw that could hijack your smartphone via a garden-variety MMS. The company has now released an app that can check if your Android smartphone is patched against it.

Google released¬†an update in which the problem is solved but you’re only protected if you have a Nexus device. But if you own nearly any other smartphone such as a Samsung’s Galaxy S6, you’re probably still at risk.

I checked my HTC One M9 and the device seems to be at risk. In fact, devices from manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and LG are still at risk, but some other Android devices appear not to be affected from the flaw, for example the OnePlus One with a CyanogenMod nightly is already protected.

You can find out whether your device is still at risk by downloading the Stagefright Detector app here.
