How To Disable Bixby Button On Samsung Galaxy S10/S10 Plus/ S10E

Since Samsung has announced Galaxy S8/S8 Plus, with its built-in assistant, Bixby, Galaxy users have been asking for ways to disable this button function. Even with the release of Galaxy S10 lineup, the chorus is still louder, and there is a whole new generation of users looking to disable Bixby.

While the physical button is still there, you can do something about the software. Here is how to disable Bixby on your Galaxy S10 as much as possible.

What version is your phone running on?

First, you need to know the version of Android running on your phone, Oreo or Pie version. It will determine the steps for disabling Bixby. By default, your Galaxy S10 is pre-installed with Android Pie out of box, so you simply follow the steps below.

Before proceeding, log into your Samsung account

If you want to disable most aspects of Bixby on your new Galaxy S10, first, you need to log into your Samsung account. You would be asked to do so for the first signing into your phone, but if you already skipped that step; you’re going to sign in to disable Bixby. To get it done:

  1. Press the Bixby button or swipe right on the home screen.
  2. Tap on the arrow button.
  3. Sign in your Samsung account credentials or Create account. All you need is to enter details, agree to the terms, and verify account details via your email.
  4. When you are prompted “Use your biometrics“, just tap on Not now.
  5. Tap on the arrow button.
  6. Read the terms & conditions and then tap on the arrow button.
  7. Teach Bixby your voice if you like.
  8. Tap the next (arrow) button to proceed.

You are now logged into your Samsung account and can start disabling Bixby functions on your phone!

Steps to remove Bixby Home from the home screen

The next step to disable Bixby entirely on your new Galaxy S10 is to disable Bixby Home access from your device’s home screen, which is put on the left-most panel by default.

  1. From your home screen, press and hold on empty space until you see the menu.
  2. Swipe to the right to open up the left home panel.
  3. Disable Bixby Home.

That’s it! Neither Bixby button nor the Bixby Home screen will work and you are now free from Bixby.

Steps to disable the Bixby button

You now get all the important stuff. Although you are not able to completely disable the Bixby button on your Galaxy S10, you can still disable it by relegating it to a double-press. To do so:

  1. Head to Settings app on your Galaxy
  2. Tap on Advanced FeaturesBixby button.
  3. Select Double press to open Bixby option

That’s all! You can still use the app to disable or remap the button.

In the latest patch update, as of February 2019, Samsung allows you to remap the Bixby button to open any apps like the camera app or even Google Assistant. The process is not difficult and it works very well, so you don’t need to spend time downloading the sketchy app.
